We went on a little road trip around the area today. Highlights included:
- Port Douglas - cute little town for a shopping stop
- Goldon Drop Mango Winery outside Mareeba - mmm mango wine!
- Coffee World in Mareeba - wasn't as informative as we were hoping, but we got to see a coffee plant outside
- Crystal Caves in Atherton - wasn't at all what we expected. The cave was fake, but there were so many amazing rocks and gems and crystals. And the whole place had a delightfully cheese vibe...especially this commercial that we saw on TV a few days later:
- Curtain Fig near Yungaburra - very impressive!
Disappointments included:
- Not seeing a platypus at the river in Yungaburra :(
We are pretty sure these are termite mounds...eww
This bird is huge and flew right in front of our car! Unfortunately we didn't get a great picture.
Mango orchard!
Raw coffee bean
Coffee plant!
The crystal caves!
Do I look appropriately amazed?
Glowing, ooooo
Now that's a big amethyst
Called "Empress of Uruguay"
The crystal fountain of love, lol
Cubic Pyrite Crystals
Colourful...
Pretty
This looks plastic! But it's not.
Another highlight piece...very pricey
Curtain Fig Tree!
Rocks and chrystals! Brings back many memories of your younger years!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! Way cooler than any gem store I've ever visted. I resisted buying anything to add to my collection though :)
