Sheep Farming

Today was THE BIG DAY in our sheep farming duties - move the sheep from field A to field B so they have fresh grass to eat!! It's the only thing we have to do with the sheep while we are here (other than making sure their water bucket doesn't dry up) so it was a pretty special event. It took about 5min.

Dexter isn't allowed in the sheep field so he spent the whole time racing around the perimeter of the fence (and it's a long fence). He was pretty tired out afterwards! It would be fun to see if he has natural sheep herding instincts, but we don't want to encourage him to chase animals when we are living in an area with so many (and not all dog-proof fences).

The sheep know something's about to go down and they don't like it.
Dexter has to stay out :(
Sheep are bunching up in fear. They get REALLY scared if they can't bunch up, it's funny.
Scott is corralling the sheep towards the gate. It's nice that they naturally stay together.
Dexter is out of his mind with excitement, haha
It's pretty easy to move the sheep, you just have to make noise to drive them away from you.
Open the gate to the field with the nice long green grass.

Super interested in what we are doing.
Mmmm this IS much better! I guess it was worth it.
Happy sheep
Dexter still wants in, haha
