Visitors!

We have our first NZ visitor! Greg is staying with us for a week, we picked him up from Auckland last Thursday morning. More on THAT experience later...

We celebrated arriving in Ruakaka by going to the beach! It was quite windy, but otherwise pretty warm. It actually must have been really windy, because there was a whole bunch of people kite surfing!

Lots of kite surfers at the beach today
Fast! Zooming and jumping off the waves looks fun!
Greg is happy to be on the beach and no longer in airport customs

This was the first day in weeks that the water wasn't calm, so Scott was eager to get out surfing! Greg tried too - he was a brave Canadian and went without a wetsuit :) The waves were coming in too often for good surfing though, so they spent most of the time getting pounded by waves :)

Yay it's wavey!
We tried out the local Ruakaka resturant for the first time. It was delicious! Pretty reasonably priced too. I had the seafood chowder, Greg had lamb shanks and Scott had steak (of course). Next time I'm going to try the lamb, it looked really good :)

Awesome decor - check out the giant fish
Mmmm can't wait to eat
Complementary after-dinner port!
On Saturday the Foxs came to stay overnight! We went to the beach, but unfortunately it wasn't super warm so we only stayed for a bit. After that had a nice evening of chatting, playing, and delicious food! Greg and I made pizza from scratch - dough, sauce and everything!

Beach!
Greg hides from the sun
Mmmmm homemade pizza!!!
Pavlova (storebought) with kiwi fruit - traditional NZ dessert

  1. Yummy looking pizza and desert. I hope that Greg brought ketchup for Scott.

Love see all of your posts, the caves looked like they would be fun.

  2. He was backpacking around South America before this, so I don't think he would have wanted to haul around ketchup for us :) Also he left Canada before we did.
